For 2009, the BMW 7 Series has been redesigned into its fifth generation.
The new 7 Series comes with a new twin-turbo V8 as its sole engine choice, with new weight-saving construction, entirely new suspension system that is the first use of a multi-link double-wishbone front suspension on a BMW passenger car, redesigned interior and exterior styling, and options new to the 7 Series, including lane departure warning, active blind spot detection, head-up display, high-beam assist, and sideview and backup cameras. The vehicle's iDrive is also redesigned into its second generation, with improved ergonomics and efficiency, a higher-definition display, uniformly-structured menus and buttons for direct selection of the radio, CD, navigation and telecommunications menu.
Available in regular or long-wheelbase configuration, the 7 Series uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 with six-speed automatic transmission. Both are four-door sedans.
Features on the 750i include 18-inch alloy wheels, four-zone automatic climate control, Dynamic Driving Control with Dynamic Damper Control, speed-sensitive Servotronic steering, automatic adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with cornering lights and washers, adaptive LED brake lights, front and rear fog lights, electromechanical parking brake with automatic hold function, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer jets, tire pressure warning system, heated mirrors, front knee airbags, alarm system, multifunction keyless remote with downloadable personal preferences via USB, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dynamic cruise control, power sunroof, heated multifunction leather steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic, soft-close trunk lid, garage door opener, 16-way heated Nappa Leather seats with three-position memory, CD/DVD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and 16 speakers, 7-band graphic equalizer with Dirac Live sound, 12-gb hard disc drive media storage, Bluetooth hands-free communication, BMW Assist, navigation system, front and rear Park Distance Control, and iDrive with seven direct-access keys and eight programmable memory keys.
The long-wheelbase 750Li adds self-levelling rear air suspension and chrome roof molding.
